Holiday Party Info

Your bring the food, photos, and an appetite…party supplies will be provided

Once again it is time for the AOPC Holiday Party – December 15, 2011.  No need to fret over plates and forks.   The Club budget provides money for the purchase of plates, bowls, cups (for hot and cold drinks), utensils, napkins, table cloths, and trash bags.  Again this year, Karen and Ron Russ have taken care of all these items.   However, if you are providing a dish that will require a serving utensil, you will need to bring that. Don’t’ forget to bring your own drink or possibly get a two-liter to share with others.

It is also a tradition that members show some of our favorite images. Bring up to 20 of your favorites to show during an extended Open Projector time. Hope you can make it!

11.27 – Field trip info

The last field trip for November will be held this Sunday (November 27, 2011). We will be headed to Humnoke to photograph large flocks of Geese and Ducks (birds and weather cooperating). There is a small town (wide spot in the road) just to the east of Humnoke that has a “wildlife rest stop” for waterfowl and with all the bean and rice fields near by, the birds love it. Marilyn and I have been there a couple of times were able to shoot until we got tired of shooting and filled up our cards.
We will meet at the Velero Gas station just east of I-440 (Hwy 165/England exit) at 1330 (1:30 PM for those not on 24 hr time). This will give those who need to grab a quick, deep-fried, artery clogging lunch and run to the rest room (not necessarily because of the lunch).  We will leave from there and head east, stopping again in Humnoke (if necessary) to regroup. Be sure to bring your longest lenses, teleconverters, and lots of empty cards.
Should we get “skunked” and the birds not cooperate, Wings Over the Prairie is going on this weekend and we may be able to to shoot things down in Stuttgart. They had a small carnival there when we made the trip 2 years ago. I’ve attached a couple of shots I took in 2009 to give an idea of what we may be able to see.
If you need further info, feel free to email or call me (501-350-2356)
Hope to see a bunch of you there.
